#82 Fixing Problems

,

If you are having problems with your little darling, ie -  he moves or wants to run off  when you are saddling him, then DO NOT spend any more time on that particular troubled area.  What you are seeing and not liking is most likely  not the problem, it is a very strong indicator of a weakness in his foundation.

Instead go back to the basics of groundwork.  There is a hole in his training that needs to be remedied - and what each problem is generally telling you is that there are  missing steps in his foundation.

And, I am sure, some folks think I am overly cautious but there is no way I would get on a horse that won't stand quietly when being saddled.  For him, that is one of his "hot" spots and he is telling you he does not want you up there.  So, listen up and fix it.  Go back to the groundwork.
